The El Paso Community Foundation is happy to announce the return of Cultivate: Local Food Systems & Sustainability Forum on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. in the Foundation Room, located at 333 N. Oregon St., El Paso, Texas 79901. After a five-year hiatus, the Cultivate forum returns, and we’re excited to bring this much anticipated program back to the community with a robust line-up of presenters.
Cultivate is an engaging forum on food systems and sustainability where locals will share brief presentations of their inspiring work. Following the three presentations, an informative short documentary film will be presented. Guests are encouraged to enjoy refreshments and engage presenters in discussion and collaboration. Farmer, restauranteur, educator, urban gardener or just someone who cares about local, sustainable food; everyone with an interest is welcome to join us to change the way we think about food and where it comes from.
The January 29th Cultivate forum will feature:
• “Growing Access, Cultivating Change: Spoon Flower Grocery’s Impact on Food Equity in El Paso” - Adriana Clowe, Director and Co-Founder, Desert Spoon Food Hub
• “Lower Valley Composters” - Veronica Perez, Owner/President and Patricia Garcia Co-founder/Vice President Dirt y Girls Compost
• “When it Rains in El Paso: Water Harvesting for Urban Trees” - Mike Gaglio, Biologist/Managing Member, High Desert Native Plants LLC
• A short documentary film “Harvest Rain” by DSP Media for the Cuenca los Ojos Foundation.
Eric Pearson, President and CEO of El Paso Community Foundation states, “The Cultivate forum series has always been a conduit to convene those who are interested in food systems and sustainability in our community. Its absence has left a gap so we’re proud to launch its return, and look forward to welcoming those who may not have engaged in our past Cultivate forums.”
Cultivate is a project of the El Paso Community Foundation to convene and educate the community about food systems and sustainability.
