Have friends who can’t talk politics? You might want to invite them to a FREE screening of Undivide Us, a film designed to change that.

The El Paso Community Foundation hosts the free screening of Undivide Us at 7 pm Wednesday, October 30 in the Foundation Room, 333 N. Oregon, across from San Jacinto Plaza. Parking is available nearby.

Undivide Us is a 73-minute film that has been shown at several film festivals and events across the country. It was inspired by the book I, Citizen by Tony Woodlief, who appears in it. The film follows six focus groups, composed of people with opposing views who are encouraged to engage in constructive dialogue, not insults and name-calling.

“America is at a crossroads where politicians, traditional media, and social media fan the flames of toxic partisanship, undermining the values and institutions that unite us,” reads a statement from the filmmakers. “Undivide Us is a timely and urgent plea to reclaim the nation’s soul through open discourse, civic engagement, and self-governance.”

It was co-written and directed by Kristi Kendall, an award-winning journalist, producer and filmmaker who has worked for ABC News and Fox News and produced the films Beasts of No Nation and Harriet.
